World Cup glory

With this summer looking a trifle thin moviewise — Inception, notwithstanding — the forthcoming World Cup Finals have taken on even greater significance in my household. And I say this as someone who normally watches every single match during such tournaments.

If football's not your thing, then maybe this incredible new Nike ad will change your mind. It's directed by Alejandro González Iñárritu, incidentally.

I'm looking forward to the World Cup as well. What do think of England's chances? I would say pretty decent so long as Rooney doesn't get injured!

I think England has a good chance of reaching the semis. Anything beyond that is dreamland. My money's on Spain...

Agreed, my money's on Spain.

I loved Homer's "Ronal-doh!"... Pure genius!!!

Yeah, I could see Spain going all the way - they've got a such a killer line-up. Altho, Argentina could be the wild card. They are so unpredictable!

@ Lloyd

For a number of tournaments (Euro and World Cups), I literally did put my money on Spain and always lost. The only time I didn't bother, they won Euro 2008. There's a lesson there...

@ JD

Agreed, Argentina, despite an iffy qualification, might well come good come the finals.

And with Messi in their team, it's like they 're playing against 12 men...
