Back in November, I mentioned popping down the road for a pint of milk, only to find the crew of Tamara Drewe filming in my local bookshop. Flash forward six months and director Stephen Frears will be premiering the film, starring Gemma Arterton, at Cannes next week. Here are a couple of clips.

Gemma Arterton... wow!
Indeed.
I just read the graphic novel the other day (I bought a second hand copy which I was chuffed to see when I got it home had been signed by Posy Simmonds). It looks like the film will be a very faithful adaptation.... the casting is spot on.
Perhaps we will be able to file it under "great comic book movies that mainstream cinemagoers didn't know were based on comic books or graphic novels" along with A History Of Violence.
