GI Joe

I, like so many of my generation, had an Action Man as a kid. My first had rigid plastic hands and strange, immovable eyes, though I later graduated to one with "extra gripping hands" and "eagle eyes". It was a cool toy, and I had the usual military uniforms, as well as an Arsenal kit, but once I got to a certain age, I moved on. And so I have zero knowledge of the world of GI Joe (as the Americans call AM), nor can I say that I was remotely interested in the movie version currently being filmed. But then, this photo appeared on the net, featuring the lovely Rachel Nichols as Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara and, suddenly, my attention was, well, piqued.

You know why I'll be there? Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander. It's so WTF it borders on genius.

See, I have no idea what you're talking about. Cobra Commander? It's like a different language. But JGL is a fab actor.

To be honest, I was never into GI Joes as a kid, but I know Cobra Commander as he was the main villain and I saw at least enough of the show to know who he is. He's the only character I know though. Have you ever seen the GI Joe dubs? If not - YouTube. Now.

JGL is one of my very, very, very favourite young actors working today. His choices are always so interesting - I put him right up there with Casey Affleck, McAvoy and Gosling.
