If you love Blade Runner, you'll love the new Final Cut that's getting a brief theatrical release in the US (and hopefully UK) before hitting DVD in December. The media merryground is in full swing and there are interviews/features popping up all over the shop.
The Wired website has the full transcript of its Ridley Scott interview at http://www.wired.com/entertainment/hollywood/magazine/15-10/ff_bladerunner_full?currentPage=all
The LA Times has a piece at http://www.latimes.com/entertainment/news/movies/la-ca-blade30sep30,1,267100,full.story?coll=la-entnews-movies

As soon as I heard about the Final Cut I pre-ordered the five disc collection. It's a dream come true for a Blade Runner geek who saw it in an old-fashioned, single screen theater during it's original run. I'd never seen anything like it and I think it still stands out as an amazing, singular vision.
Thank you for the article links; I'm on my way now.
I wish I could claim to have seen it on its original run but for some reason I didn't, although I've seen it many times since on video and I did see a very scratched print of it a few years ago in an LA cinema. You know, I'm kind of partial to the narration...
The geek in me really wants the five-disc set with the briefcase (did you go for that?), but I'm not sure it's going to be available in the UK...
And if you get a chance to see the Final Cut on the big screen, you won't be disappointed.
Yes, I went with the briefcase set - I couldn't resist. I've been wanting this for years. If push-comes-to-shove you could always buy an HDDVD player - eliminating the region coding issue - and order the briefcase set from Amazon U.S.
I'd give my eye teeth to see the Final Cut on a big screen. I don't think it will be anywhere near me though (middle America).
I've always been sort of partial to the narration also...added more of a film-noirish feel.
