Interactive Sweeney book

Not sure how long this is going to be up, but either click the headline or go to http://hosting.thinkjam.com/sweeney_todd_book/ for a very cool interactive version of the Sweeney Todd book with film clips, virtual tours of the sets, plus behind-the-scenes footage. It's fun.

Holy wow, this is the best!

I'll hopefully be able to pick up a copy this weekend, provided the Australian release hasn't been pushed back.

Cannot. Wait.

PS I just found your interview there too. I'm glad you mentioned the "Come here, my love!" as I freaking LOVE that shot and Depp's delivery. Also curious: was the version of the score you listened to the 2005 revival cast? I find that to be quite powerful, vocally, but on the whole, I'm not such a fan of the performances.

PPS I think we share the same trifecta of Burton faves...

Yep, it was the Patti LuPone/Michael Cerveris Broadway production.

I was actually there the day they shot the "Come here my love" bit and it gave me chills even then.

LuPone I don't mind as Lovett (she's no Lansbury, however), but Cerevis sounds WAY too affected as Todd. It's too obvious he's putting on the deep voice and it makes him sound comical. Plus he chooses to emphasise weird words...

I figured as much from your Fango article! You lucky bugger. It's one of my very favourite shots in the film.

Man. Now I have to wait another two years at least for my next Burton fix...

Yes, that is a cool site! I found a nice competition by Titan Books there awhile back, it had some cool Sweeney prizes (including your book). Unfortunately the competition was only for UK residents. Any idea where I could find some Sweeney merchandise, like t-shirts or bags? :)

Oh, and I believe I haven't mentioned it yet, but the Sweeney book is wonderful! I got it back in January. I haven't read everything yet, I want to wait until I've seen the film. But nevertheless, it's excellent. Thanks for writing it! I've tried to advertise it on my Finnish Depp site and people have been very interested in it. :D Heh.

If your local Warners office doesn't have any, I'd try ebay. Everything seems to turn up on it. I don't have anything Sweeney related beyond the CD and a t-shirt.

And thanks so much for the lovely comments re: the book. Remind me, when do you get Sweeney in Finland?

Well, I'm hoping they will have some competitions here as well. :) I've looked at HotTopic.com and they sell some t-hirts. Unfortunately, I was a little late and the women's t-shirt got sold out. I'm hoping they get it back, especially since it has been popular. I bought a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory "mailbag" there back in 2005, and it was also sold out for awhile but then they got more of those. Hopefully this will be the case with the t-shirt, too.

I've also kept an eye on eBay, but I haven't noticed anything I want... yet. :)

Sweeney premieres here on Feb. 29th. I don't have to wait for that long anymore. :D The year has gone by surprisingly quickly. I remember being (a little too) excited about the movie already in August 2006 when I read the press release. I can still remember it like yesterday.

That was fun, just what I needed to procrastinate for even longer! :D

Still need to get the book - I'm dropping some very big hints on people as my birthday's looming, so I'll have to wait and see...

I just picked this up during my lunchbreak. You'll be very pleased to know the store's stock arrived yesterday, and mine was the last copy left.

By the by, if you'll pardon the French, it's f*cking gorgeous.

You're pardoned. And thank you.

It's amazing how well the book's done; even the publishers are amazed. It's now onto its third printing which, for a making of book, is quite something...
