Sir Tim. Sort of.

Tim Burton and Marion Cotillard
Tim Burton, together with Big Fish star Marion Cotillard, was today made a knight in the Order of the Arts and Letters by French Culture Minister Frederic Mitterand. "I feel much more at home here than I do in my own country and I thank you very much," said Monsieur Burton.

Incidentally, I've been informed that there is a French-language edition of Alice In Wonderland: The Visual Companion. Still waiting for my English version to arrive...

:-) That's good news for the french edition of the book! I have to check it out. I guess they'll release it same time as the movie (next weeeeek!)
I wanted to go and sneak around the ministery, but I had to be at work! Still, they both highly deserve it (though our minister has a bad habit to give the Order to randomp people sometimes...)

Wonder if Disney have missed the boat by not getting the visual companion book out by now, seems odd that there was no release to coincide with the film's debut, always look forward to your books that tie-in to Tim's projects and I am sure this will be as good as the others.

@ Paul

Thanks for stopping by.

The book was originally meant to be released on March 2, the week of release but for various reasons that got pushed. And pushed.

It's a shame, but at least interest in the film is still high, if the box office is any indication.

What I will say is this. I think fans of the film are in for a treat. To me, it seemed like only a handful of stills were used over and over again to illustrate every single article on the film. There is so much new artwork and so many (as yet unseen) photos in the book that I think it'll be well worth the wait.

Thanks for the information, got to see a few preview pages and was impressed, looking forward to purchasing it next week.

Exciting to read that Frankenweenie is about to commence filming, will you be writing the art/making book to this?

@ Paul

Out of interest, where did you see the preview pages?

Hi Mark,

Found the previews on concept artist Michael Kutsche website and also on Nucleus Art Gallery, seems the artists whose work is inside did a special signing, loved the artwork of alice crossing the red queen's moat via the heads !!!!!!!
