Blimey

Variety is reporting that Alice In Wonderland made an estimated $116.3 million at the North America box office this weekend. That's the highest ever for a non-sequel, beating Iron Man's $102.1 million from 2008, and the sixth highest of all time. Figures for around 40 international territories will be announced later but Alice's opening weekend take could, in total, top $200 million.

I'm still interested in everyone's thoughts on the film. Love it, or hate it, please share your views on the appropriate post below...

unfortch, my dumb theater didn't have it in 3D, so i was VERY disappointed with THAT aspect. i mean, burton in 3D! anywho, i LOVED it. it was a visual dream that i wished was an hour longer. the landscape and vision made avatar seem uninspired. honestly. were the avatar creatures nifty? sure. but the entire world was basic trees and rocks. but i digress (which is rare this early in a long winded post).

maybe it's me. maybe i just enjoy burton bring the absurd and surreal to life. i don't know why my friends and coworkers find the movie "just okay". i don't understand why many reviews called it dull and colorless. was it dark? well yes! it wasn't a pretty animated disney movie it's TIM FUCKING BURTON. it was crazy and out of control and hilarious and ALL the performances were stellar. sure depp was pitch perfect, but the ensemble was great. i loved it.

i love that it beat iron man for an opening weekend and i hope that it stays up there for a little while longer. the film deserves it. the world of wonderland and all it's subtleties is a feast of a film that is certainly not lacking in muchness.

Welcome back. And spot on again.

Now you just need to find yourself a 3D theatre and see it again.

Especially if you liked it that much in old fashioned 3D...
