Michael Winterbottom is one of the UK's most versatile and talented filmmakers whose output rivals that of a certain Mr Soderbergh. Here's a promo for his latest, an adaptation of Jim Thompson's The Killer Inside Me, starring Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba, which marks Winterbottom's first US set film since The Claim.

Wow, Casey Affleck looks like plays a real cold-hearted bastard in this one. I haven't read the source material in years but I do like Winterbottom. He's quite versatile... England's answer to Steven Soderbergh perhaps?
Quite a different role for both Jessica Alba and Kate Hudson. I'm intrigued...

I'd definitely equate Winterbottom to Soderbergh.
The Claim is a terrific picture. Winterbottom is indeed one of our finest.
Glad to hear of love for The Claim. It's beautifully shot with some great performances. I particularly love the scene when they move the house. Herzog meets McCabe And Mrs Miller.
