"Go Flash Go!"

In contrast to Joe Versus The Volcano, Mike Hodges' Flash Gordon has always been a guilty pleasure and was one of my picks for the BFI Southbank's Comic Book Season. (Although, I would have loved to have seen original director Nic Roeg's take on the material.) I never saw the Sci-Fi Channel's recent TV series — by all accounts, it was pretty terrible — but another movie version has been on the cards for a while now. Sony have picked up the rights from Universal and have hired some writers to go back to the character's comic book origins.

Wasn't PIXAR supposed to be doing a live action film version of FLASH GORDON. Or is that old news?

I think j.d. could be referring to Andrew Stanton's live action/animated John Carter of Mars film being produced through Pixar? Which sounds great. Finally get to see WALL-E in three weeks!!

Flash Gordon is one of my favourite characters - Alex Raymond was just an awesome artist and story teller - he was only 25 when his (original and best) Flash first appeared in 1934... IMO you can pretty much see his influence in most fantasy art, whether it comes through a Frank Frazetta, Roger Dean or Chris Foss style or simply through a traditional ink approach as with much comic book art.

A new Flash movie? Bring it on!!

Welcome Kevin.

Nice site too. Good luck with your Dredd sample and glad you enjoyed the 2000AD panel.
