To boldly go where no Star Trek has gone before

“I feel like this is so unlike what you expect, so unlike the Star Trek you’ve seen," JJ Abrams recently told the Associated Press having just wrapped his Star Trek movie . "At the same time, it’s being true to what’s come before, honouring it. I can say the effects for Star Trek have never, ever been done like this.… I can only tell you the idea of the universe of Star Trek has never been given this kind of treatment.”

still skeptical. will reserve judgment for actual full length trailer. love JJA and all his work... but star trek has had like, 27 movies. can it survive the jump to warp 2008?

also, from the look of it, 2008 is chock full of blockbusters! when's the last time there have been this many AWESOME movies coming out in one year?

I can't remember a summer like it. So far so great. Iron Man and Speed Racer didn't disappoint. And we've still got Indy, X Files, the Dark Knight and a host of others to come...

The Summer of 1982 was pretty great:

- E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial
- Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan
- Poltergeist
- The Road Warrior
- The Thing
- Blade Runner
- Fast Times At Ridgemont High
- Conan The Barbarian
- Tron

You're completely right jd, 1982 was indeed stellar.

Whether this summer will attain such levels of lasting greatness remains to be seen.

We've gotten off to a good start, but as much as I enjoyed Iron Man and Speed Racer I'm not sure we'll be holding them up as classics in 26 years time...
