Entretiens avec Tim Burton

Entretiens avec Tim Burton de Mark Salisbury, a new French edition of Burton On Burton, will be published on November 5 by Sonatine Editions. Considering the previous edition, published by Le Cinéphage, has been out of print for a few years, I'm obviously delighted about this. It even features a new chapter on Sweeney Todd which isn't available in any other version as yet.

Weird - in need of a little inspiration, as I was yesterday, I pulled my 2000 edition of Burton on Burton off the shelf and spent a nostaliga-swaddled hour perusing its myriad pleasures. Hard to believe I've had it since I was fifteen...

This French edition will presumably be in French? Because I'm keen as Catherine to take in that Sweeney chapter, but regrettably, my French is no longer what it was when I was - oddly enough - fifteen...

The French edition will, yes, be in French. But there's a Catalan edition coming out soon that also includes the Sweeney chapter, if that's any help. :)

Don't know when the next English version will be. Possibly to tie in with Dark Shadows...

Glad to know the book's still proving useful. Inspiration for what, pray tell?

That's such a long wait...

And, well, in general, really - it's always been a bit of a go to. But also for an interview I recorded last week. I've been to-ing and fro-ing as to what I'd like to do with it (pluck a few choice quotes and write a feature article around it? Or simply post a truncated transcription of the conversation?). I'm opting for the latter - because a) it's less work and I'm strapped for time; and b) it's just plain more interesting coming straight from the mouths of the filmmakers - but, as it's quite long, I'll split it up into more digestible sections and post it over two or three days.

And seriously though, Burton on Burton remains my rainy day pick-me-up to this day...

It is a long time, but I feel that if you're going to do a new edition there needs to be plenty of extra material to make it worthwhile, and so by waiting, the next one will have Sweeney, Alice, Dark Shadows and Frankenweenie.

And again, thanks for the kind words re: BoB.

Gerard, if that can help, I can translate french/english... if you buy me the french edition, that to say^^.
And, Mark, if I get one, could it be signed too? :-)
