Although I never met David Brown, the Oscar-winning producer of The Sting, Jaws, and Cocoon who has died aged 93, I knew him by reputation. He was known as a gentlemen producer and together with his good friend and producing partner Richard Zanuck, the pair had great taste in material, a nose for talent and exhibited a real passion for movies and people.
