Cool

Michael Winterbottom, Britain's most prolific filmmaker, will direct a $13 million adaptation of Jim Thompson's novel The Killer Inside Me starring Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba.

A relentless psychological thriller, the film follows West Texas sheriff Lou Ford’s descent into violent psychosis. As murder victims begin to pile up in his town, suspicion falls on Lou. He will do anything to escape but he cannot escape what he is.

Sounds promising. Too bad about the casting of Alba. She was the weakest part of SIN CITY but if anybody can get a decent performance out of her it would be Winterbottom.

agreed. but really i doubt she can act her way out of a paper bag. Casey Affleck will pull off yet another stellar performance that will most likely be overlooked b/c Alba will drag the movie down. get her out and put in Ginnifer Goodwin or Emily Blunt or Natalie Portman (if you need a bigger name). am i wrong here? anyone have better suggestions?

Yeah, those are all great suggestions. Or maybe Carla Gugino? She would be really good as well. Or maybe Christina Hendricks from MAD MEN. She certainly could capture that noir look.

I know what you're saying Steve. I used to like her in Dark Angel (the first series at least) but, Sin City aside, she's not really done anything decent on the big screen. Having said that, I think she could be a terrific femme fatale given the right encouragement. Then again, there's also was Scarlett J...

Christina Hendricks... now that's inspired. Did you ever see her in Firefly?

Scarlett J is over-rated, i feel. maybe it's just over-exposure. good call with Hendricks. she's fantastic on Mad Men. (of course i would say anyone from MM is fantastic b/c i'm completely in love with the show... but srsly. Hendricks = yes.)

Mark:

Oh yeah, I love FIREFLY. Great cast, great show.

Hopefully, with the success of MAD MEN, Hendricks will get a lot more work thrown her way. She is so good on that show (as is everyone).

We've only had season one of MM in the UK, so I've got a whole series of Don and co. (including the divine Ms Hendricks) to look forward to...

Trust me, you're in for some fascinating character revelations and plot twists in Season 2. Great stuff.
