And he's back too

Pleased to see that after much speculation Terry Gilliam has managed to resurrect The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus with the help of Messeurs Depp, Farrell and Law as had been widely rumoured.

That's great news: we'll get to see Ledger's last work, *plus* Depp in a finished Gilliam production! Hurrah all round.

(also congrats on the move, glad it all went alright for you :) )

Good news indeed. I think that it might be, at the end, a new way to give more interest to the movie. I'm not saying that because of the "names" in the cast, but it can be very, very interesting to see the same character played by such great actors, added to Gilliam's word!

would they actually use the footage that Ledger shot or re-shoot the whole deal? i have no idea what this movie is about so i'm going to stop commenting and go do some research and come back...

okay. so yeah. they're gonna have to re-shoot. if Farrell is taking Ledger's role (a mistake i think as he's getting on in years) i don't think it'll work. put Wes Bently in there. let him redeem himself from Ghost Rider and P2 and... well, every other movie after American Beauty. he can pull it off i KNOW it. plus, he's not Jake or Toby. OOOOO! Casey Affleck! so hot right now.

get it done, salisbury. you got clout, right?

okay, so upon FURTHER research (aparently IMDB doesn't know anything) they're chaning the plot slightly to keep Ledger's performance?

...i don't know. good idea or money saver? i think a full length Ledger farewell is much better than a partial role in what seems to be a fantastical movie. sure, it's his last performance... but it seems like it'd be more of a fizzle than a flare like Batman will be.

pull it all, i say. how can those three be versions of Ledger anyway? shouldn't they be AROUND his age? these guys can still play young, but let's be honest, shall we? this is like nick cage still trying to play 30-something roles. i just don't believe it and that takes away from the movie.

This is what I know. They shot all of Ledger's character in the "real world" in London before he died.

What they had left to shoot was all the green screen work which featured his character (as well as Lily Cole, Christopher Plummer, etc) when they step out of the real world and into the Imaginarium, ie the fantasy world in the story.

And now, when Heath enters the Imaginarium he'll either be Depp, Farrell or Law.

idk... maybe it's the flu talking, but in the REAL fake world of movies, Ledger does not become Depp, Farrell OR Law. Nor do they become him. the idea is dumb and will completely distract from the movie plot.

I am intrigued and can't wait to see what Gilliam does with these guys once they are in the Imaginarium. I would love it if they are allowed to indulge in their more gonzo side as we see in other Gilliam films - Gonzo to Raoul Duke in Fear & Loathing, Parry to Jack in The Fisher King, Jeffrey to Cole in 12 Monkeys, etc.
