What the *&$%

The nine-film long list for the Best Foreign Language Oscar was announced yesterday and there are some mighty red faces in Hollywood right now at the omission of Romania's Cannes winner 4 Months, 3 Weeks & 2 Days as well as France's Persepolis from said list. Seems it's not only us Brits who make a balls up with these things...

How on earth did Depp not make the Leading Actor cut? Clooney and Mortenson were both excellent in their roles, to be sure, but I find it hard to believe that a singing Depp won't be more impressive...

Wow, I sure posted that in the wrong place.

If I told you that Sweeney wasn't sent out as a DVD screener, whereas all the other nominated actors' films were...

Not that it should make ANY difference.

Meanwhile, Cloverfield?

Really great. Exactly what I'd hoped for from it.

Livechanging? Masterpiece? Of course not. But really well executed and enormously entertaining. I loved.

Excellent. I'm seeing it tonight...

I do believe you shall truly enjoy it.

Currently getting my thoughts down (despite the fact I'm like five reviews behind on my page...) and may get them up within the next hour, but if not, it's crash city for me..

It's awesome though. I'll be going again.

I know that dvds weren't sent out as screeners, but I guess I'm scratching my head wondering how Sweeney managed two noms then in technicals? Hair and makeup and then the fabulous costumes? They saw the hair, makeup and costumes but not the film, the actors or the directing? arrrrrrrrr
