Offline

I have been experiencing Internet problems for the last few days and posting from an iPhone isn't much fun. Hopefully things will be sorted in the next couple of days. Feel free to talk amongst yourselves. See any good films lately?

Actually, yes!

I watched "The Secret in their Eyes" at the Ritzy. Sitting in the front row made me leave with a headache, but didn't detract from the pleasure of this marvellous film. Subtle, nuanced and gripping, it is a wonderfully assured piece of film making, with rich thematic intricacies. It's moving, exciting, and richly cinematic: indeed, the detailed exploration of the nature of memory and the desire to see (in different kinds of ways) makes this a supreme "film about film" a la Rear Window, Pepping Tom et al.

I saw Hell Drivers on the telly. It was great! And just imagine what the cast of a remake would be if you did it today with a similar number of UK stars...

Finally saw "Inglourious Basterds". Great flick, especially the first 20 minutes.

Also attempted "Date Night" with Tina Fey. yikes! i shut that off half-way through. Raunchy and unfunny.

FYI, a few of your tomes are cf'd in the latest of ACMI's Burton essays: Twisted Tales: Tim Burton's Modern Fables.

Hope you're back soon! I'm seeing Piranha 3-D tonight...

It's on my to see list.

@ Adam

Haven't seen it in years. Will have to check it out again.

@ Anonymous

That's a shame about Date Night. I really like Tina Fey

@ Gerard

Ta for that. I might well be seeing Piranha 3D today, too...

Oddly enough I've been unable to post on this site for a good month or so now (before your holiday). It just freezes when I try to post (or even look at the other messages). I think the only comment I've made since was from an iphone which takes forever. Anyway... don't want to count my chickens, but looks like it's working today.

As for what I've been watching... loved Breaking Bad series 2, and thought the Series 1 pilot of Lie To Me is the single worst piece of trash I may have ever witnessed. It was almost so bad it was brilliant, but I punted the DVD set without watching any more of it.
