Can you hear it?

Listen closely. There... it... is. The sound of millions and millions of Harry Potter fans weeping at the news that Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince has been moved from November to July 17 next year.

Not much of a Potter enthusiast (caught all the flicks in theatres one apiece), but doesn't something seem, um, really weird about this?

Variety's saying it's because WB need another summer tentpole...

What a bullet-proof idea: piss off your fanbase by making them wait an extra eight months...

wow. from 3 months away to nearly a year... that's not weeping you hear, that's the sound of heaps of books being burned in protest.

why? why would you move it THAT far into the future when you've already released a date?! it's not like the movie isn't going to make hundreds of millions of dollars. it would make the same amount of money in november that it would in july because people will FLOCK to see it. didn't WB just do the dark knight? they're not hurting for hits, right?
