Here's Spidey

Andrew Garfield Spider-Man 2

Andrew Garfield has been announced as the new Spider-man. It's a good choice, I have to say. He's certainly talented — just check out his performances in Boy A and Red Riding for proof of that.

I've interviewed him a couple of times, on the sets of Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium Of Doctor Parnassus, when he was wearing a wig, false breasts and a dress, as well as Never Let Me Go. The 26-year-old British actor also stars in David Fincher's upcoming The Social Network.

"From the first time we saw him in The Social Network, to his glorious screen test, which floored all of us, we knew that we had found our new Peter Parker,” said Amy Pascal, co-chairman of Sony Pictures, in a statement.

The British are Coming! Can we claim him as British? Too late, I’m doing it. That’s us got Batman, Spider-man and Bendy Man from the Fantastic Four. If only it had been our Chris Evans in F4 and Captain America, we’d be looking at world domination.

I would have let this franchise hibernate for a while if it had been up to me. Let everyone remove the third film from their memories. I’d hazard a guess that this ‘reboot’ will be helped along with a few cameos, probably RDJ at least.

But well done Mr Garfield. Can’t really remember much of what he had to do in Imaginarium, but liked him in Boy A, Lions For Lambs and Red Riding.

We can definitely claim him as British. Although I'm still laughing at the thought of the other Chris Evans being in FF.
